I love great Christmas in Chicago. Some people argue that New York is decidedly better for the holiday season than the major cities in the US, but in my heart there is a warm place to the Windy City on the shores of Lake Michigan. It can be cold by nature. It’s no surprise that so many beloved Christmas movies take place in Chicago: Home Alone, Christmas with Kranks, National Lampoon’s Christmas holiday these are just to name a few. Chicago is festive, bright and very welcoming during the holidays, and I suggest you go to explore it. I wouldn’t be surprised if you fell in love with him like I did.
Navy Pier
Every year Navy Pier hosts a large and bold indoor event. Winter Wonderfest should definitely be on your list of things to do in Chicago over great Christmas. You should go on Carnival trips, holiday-themed events and the indoor ice rink.
Macy’s
Macy’s holiday wis.ndow displays in downtown St 1 block East from the German Christmas Market are always amazing and free to enjoy. Each year they choose a different theme, often a fairy tale, presented from beginning to end in a dozen dazzling display
Christmas Market
Downtown, Christkindle Sunday at Daley Plaza is the best and largest Christmas market, with hot mulled wine, a variety of German dishes, desserts, Christmas gift vendors, children’s events and more. Chicago is a great and festive place during the holiday season.
Ice Rinks
Millennium Park will open for the enjoyment of the traditional ice rink. And don’t forget Chicago’s newest Christmas runway. The Maggie Daley skate Strip at Maggie Daley Park is right next to Millennium Park. There are more ice rinks throughout the city, but these two are most likely in the middle of the tourist area where you will stay. In October, free carolers performances are held next to the bean statue on certain evenings during the holiday season.
